Testimonials
Dr. Somers is truly a gem in the world of physical therapy. Building a relationship with each client, she listens to understand your goals and frustrations. She provides individualized recovery plans, while giving you the building blocks and tools to approach your own recovery. I started seeing Dr. Somers for hamstring pain that was interfering with sports, lifting, and just general life. Dr. Somers gave me the tools to quickly get back to the activities I love. She empowered me to understand my own body, and have confidence in making decisions about my recovery.

I am a distance runner and before seeing Ellie, I was stuck in a constant injury cycle. I would get hurt, take time off, start training again, get hurt again, etc. I started working with Ellie as my running coach after I had taken some time off for a pelvic injury. She built a plan for me that took into account my injury, and constantly checked in with me along the way. Not only did I make it the starting line of my goal marathon completely healthy, but I PR’d by almost 40 minutes! I used to have so much fear around my body and running from my previous injuries, and working with Ellie helped re-build that trust in myself. Having a running coach who is also a physiotherapist is a game changer – I can’t recommend her enough.
Love working with Ellie and having her in my corner. I have her voice in my head telling me how strong and capable I am. She has made me believe it! The workouts are great and the training plan makes sense. She has helped me slow down. I could not have gone through 2020 without Ellie! I know with Ellie I will reach my goals of running a marathon again.
Just wanted to reach out and say thank you for your guidance over the last year! Several pieces of advice you’ve given have helped me be a better athlete:
Your advice to run at a conversational pace has helped me run more consistently with fewer breaks and your recommendation to run more frequently (4 times a week) has given me a stronger foundation to build off of – I’m getting faster!
Your Instagram stories + posts are really interesting and informative and I look forward to seeing them!
The tips on step rate at your running workshop helped me keep training when I was having some calf pain.
Probably most importantly, hearing about your approach to pain has helped me stress less over aches and pains that inadvertently come up during training, and I’ve noticed that this mindset also helps me recover faster! It’s made me believe in the resilience of my body to heal and recover and adapt – in the past I would get frustrated, believing that I wasn’t built to run faster / longer / at all. I feel like this is probably the most important shift in mindset I’ve had in the last year, and it’s all because of you.
I have been to a variety of physical therapists over the years for different injuries and my experience with Dr. Ellie rises far above the rest. My typical experiences in the sports rehab arena often left me feeling like my body was broken and that I had to be very careful about always staying on top of all my exercises or else I would get injured again. I also felt frustrated with how many physical therapy visits I had to do and the length of time it took to heal. With Dr. Ellie I was back out hiking and skiing again after only a couple visits. She helped me feel more confident in my body and gave me an understanding about pain and what it’s actually telling me. I learned just how much misinformation there is out there when it comes to pain and injury. Not only is she skilled in her understanding of the body, she also is an expert in pain education and management. On top of all that, Dr. Ellie is an athlete herself and coach and is able to relate to the female athlete in a way a lot of physical therapists can’t. She is able to program effective return to movement plans, and you can feel confident you are getting amazing comprehensive care. Most importantly, working with Dr. Ellie you feel how passionate she is about her work and how truly invested she is in your recovery. I can’t recommend her enough!!
